Audition 3 Install Does Not Prompt for Serial Number

I am trying to install Audition 3 on a Windows 8.1 PC.  I used the trial version which expired, but I now have the install s/w and a serial number.  However when I try to go through the installation it does not prompt for the serial number and when I try to run it, I get the message that the trial version has expired.  I have tired to do the advanced uninstallation and rebooted and that did not work.

    The trial version should have a prompt you can click to activate using your serial number.

    I can click on Buy which takes me to the web site and I could not figure out what to do from there.  The about does not help either.
