Both 2018 and 2019 CC programs installing on my computer

Creative Cloud installs two versions of most CC programs on my computer, both 2018 and 2019 versions.  Is there a reason for this?

A few months ago, when I fired up, say, Illustrator or inDesign, in the CC app, the newest version would boot. But if I was offline and clicked on a program file, the old version would fire up. I guess the only difference would be the welcome screen, but makes me wonder what's going on.

Is this normal CC behavior?

I need to add to my post, as I did only get your heading and not the whole message (forum problems... :-( ):

If you have several versions installed, only one can be the default and that is normally the last you installed. You can change that by opening the properties of a target file (Windows Explorer->properties) and then assign a new default.

You can also uninstall versions that you do not need anymore.

No problem, you may do that.Just click the triangle near the application on your CC app,  and out of memory, it is ”manage”.

The highest major version is the latest version, the version below is the verson before. Indesign 2019 has version 14, 2018 has version 13.

Looks like there is a second thread just appearing with quite the same problem description: Double app versions in CC installer
