Can i install lightroom on an external harddrive and run from another pc

I Was running lightroom from a desktop pc i keep all my raw files on an external hard drive. However now i run it from my laptop what files and folders should i be also keeping on my external hard drive to see the edits i made on my desk top PC

You would need to back up your catalog and associate it with your collection. This will have to be done mutually every time you change the system.
