Can I install Photoshop 7.0 for Windows onto my new MacBook?

Ages ago I purchased Photoshop 7.0 for Windows. When my laptop died I decided to change to a MacBook, not even considering I might not be able to reinstall it.

Well I put the CDROM in, it recognises something is there, but I can't get it to do anything.

Is it possible to install it on my Mac or do I need to purchase some kind of upgrade?

What are my options basically.

I have it for personal use only, bought the education version as a student, so I don't want to spend hundreds replacing it.

I have tried some other photoshop-like apps and one of them was set up almost the same as Photoshop (Pixelmator I think it was) but it has stopped working now and just crashes on me.

I use layers a lot so I need something with this capability.

Thanks

A windows version will not install/run on a Mac machine.  There is no path to upgrade from Photoshop 7 to the current CS6 version and if there were, since you do not want to spend hundreds, you are pretty much out of luck.  Similar costs will be incurred if you opted for joining the Creative Cloud.
