can not enter alpha characters in activation code

When asked for the activation code for Adobe photoshop elements on an imac I can only enter numbers. It will not accept letters.

adobe products only use digits (6 groups of 4 digits) for activation. Find your serial number quickly

well the activation code that I have on the card I purchased from office depot has both letters and digits.
