When I change the location in the preferences it says 'Cannot install to root path'

I do not have space on the C drive and I have a new D drive that I want to add all applications to and this is not working any help?

Laura, the error message means that you cannot install the applications to the root level of the drive. If you wish to customize the installation location, then please create a new folder on the drive and then select the new location.

Please be aware that the operating system drive will still be utilized during the download and install process. If disk space is an issue, then please free up additional space, repartition the drive, use a different computer, or buy a larger hard drive.

At what point do you select it?  I have been trying to re-install CC to my D Drive because my C drive is nearly full and I can't work my programs as I keep getting a "scratch disk is full" error.  Thank you.

First make a folder on the disk.
then, when you go to Creative Cloud, choose the folder. For example type D:\newfolder instead of just 😧

😧 is the root folder, don't use it.
