For many years I have been using Sonata font which has the following files:

SO______.AFM

SO______.PFB

I have just started using WIndows 7 and find that the .AFM file is not recognised as a font file, so I can'rt install Sonata. This means my exisiting files don't show correctly.

Is there any way around this problem?

Thank you

If I buy the true type version will it 'show' properly in the files where I have used the PostScript version?

Where do I buy the true type version?

Depends on which product you are using?  Also I do show a Sonata Standard Medium being available from Adobe but no other versions of Sonata.  Is your Postscript font also Sonata Standard Medium or did you obtain the font from a source besides Adobe?

I bought the font from Adobe probably around 1993

I've just got the flopy disk out, on the front it says 021 Sonata there is a number on the back:  G055EM3C05C5

I assume it is a standard size, perhaps the information below tells you:

You could try to find/ buy the Truetype/OpenType version... Other than that you'll have to drag&drop install both files or use a font manager. Anyway, you should realyl consider updating your font. PostScript font support is not gonna get better as it's pretty much declared dead...
