Can't use my own software! CC took over CS6 apps.

I own CS6. At the end of last year I had to subscribe to using Illustrator in CC for just a month and then cancelled my subscription.  I now can't open my own version of CS6 Illustrator.  I can open Photoshop, Flash etc but not Illustrator - it just asks me to renew my subscription to CC - which I don't need or want to do. On a mac - any idea why I can't use my own software?  Very annoyed - please help?!
