Question

Can you run a Windows version of Creative Suite 6 on an iMac 2017 with 3.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core

I have a Windows version of Creative Suite 6. Will it work on my iMac 2017 with a 3.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5? To further complicate the issue, this is an upgrade to CS5 for Windows (which I also have).

I know it's old, but I only need it to touch up photos of friend's babies and that's not worth $264/year to me

Thanks to anyone who can help!

Given what you want to do with the software, have a look at Adobe's consumer level software Photoshop Elements. Despite the name, it's got a different interface to Photoshop but is intended to be easy to use. It's also a one off cost - no subscription.

You may find Elements 2024 better than working with 12 year old software and you may unleash some creativity. You can run the free trial for 30 days and see what you think.

Or you could install Boot Camp and actually run Windows on your computer.

your os is probably incompatible with adobe's mac cs6 version.  and using a window emulator is a headache, at best, but it's your only hope unless you keep or purchase a windows computer.

    and there's a photography plan for $10/mo.

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

If you are only comfortable using Photoshop and nothing else, you might not be able to help your friend in this instance. As stated you would need to buy and run parallels to do that, and your system is at the bare minimum for parallels ( https://www.parallels.com/products/desktop/resources/ ). And those resources don't even include the resources needed to run the virtual machine.

And while you could buy a month-to-month subscription to avoid a yearly plan at $22.99/mo, your computer cannot run the latest versions, and due to the one version back in the app rule, you would have to reach out to support to get an older verion that runs on your Mac.

Your best bet would be to borrow a windows computer to try and run that old version or look for other alternatives online for photo touch ups.

No - You don't put diesel in a gasoline car, and you can't install Windows programs on a Mac... unless you wish to install http://www.parallels.com/ "emulator" on your Mac to run Windows programs
