Cannot install Creative Cloud Desktop

For some time, I have tried to update my creative cloud desktop app with no success. So after that, I uninstalled the app and redownloaded it. When I tried to install the app, the instaled failed. The creative cloud desktop app said "We've encountered the following issues: Creative Cloud desktop failed to install." I cannot find out what is wrong. I have a current subscription with creative cloud.

Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6

I followed this but the step missing here is before you run the cleaner tool you have to delete the oobe and aamupdater file folders located in Users/username/appdata/local/adobe then run the uninstaller then reinstall creative cloud desktop so:

1. Uninstall creative cloud desktop

2.delete the oobe and aamupdater file folders

3. run the uninstaller

4.reinstall creative cloud desktop.

took me days and hours on phone with tech support but working fine.

If you do this incorrectly when you reinstall cc desktop you will get "install failed error code 50"

This is about the most ridiculous thing adobe has ever done.  Downloading the files from Creative Cloud App on a PC is nothing but a per HEADACHE.  I have installed and uninstalled 3 times.  8 hours of my day wasted.  Who do I send the bill to for my time?  Yea Right.  Going to try the direct download.

Cannot even finish the creative cloud install on a PC that has never seen anthing the like. I was hesitating to buy the Lightroom soft but fortunately came across this thread. Will stick with The Gimp. Works as a dream and for free.

Bye.

I have spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to get Creative Cloud Desktop to install.  I've had issues with every update, but this was, by far, the worst.  Hopefully the solution will work for others who are having similar issues.

I'm running 64bit Win-7 and here are some of the issues that I had:

  • Error code 50 messages when running CreativeCloudSet-Up (I also got return code 41 messages).
  • Errors in removing files/folders when running Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool.
  • Errors in the PDApp log file "Failed to execute un-install modifier for package 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Creative Cloud\CoreSync\customhook\CoreSyncCustomHook.exe'. Return Code: 267"
  • Errors in the PDApp log file related to not being able to create various files / folders.

The following steps are based on a post that I found here: Re: Photoshop CC will not install, no error though

  1. Navigate to C/Program Files(X86)/Common Files/Adobe/OOBE and rename it to OOBE.old
  2. Navigate to C/Program Files(X86)/Adobe/Adobe Creative Cloud and rename it to ACC
  3. Navigate to C/Users/<UserName>/AppData/local/Adobe/OOBE and rename it to OOBE.old
  4. Open Task Manager, select the Processes tab, and kill (click the End Process button) all Adobe processes (including any Flash and Acrobat / Reader processes)
  5. Select the Task Manager Services tab.  If there are any Adobe services with a status of Running, click the "Services..." button. This will open a new Services Window.
  6. For each Adobe Service that is running, right-click and select Stop from the popup menu.
  7. Run CreativeCloudSet-Up again.

I also got the error code 50 when updating Creative Cloud Desktop. It was sufficient to go to Task manager and kill all Adobe related applications and services. In addition it might be necessary to remove the existing Creative Cloud installation, but this I cannot confirm.

There seems to be absolutely no mention about the error code 50 in Adobe support pages, except a few forum threads.

OK, just in case someone else comes here seeking an answer ... It seems they finally (at least for whatever issues I was having) fixed the problem.

Here's the last email I got from support (end of message). I followed the instructions and now seem to have a working version of the Creative Cloud app. After all that, though, I'm not sure it was worth all the heartache. Downloading the applications one by one from the prodesigntools site seems to make me feel better for some reason. Anyway ... haven't messed around with the CC app yet too much, so I'm not totally convinced it's "all" fixed. But just the fact that they actually seem to have fixed something makes me feel a bit better.

From adobe:

Just wanted to follow up on the same conversation that we have been having around downloading the Creative Cloud Desktop Application . I would like to check if we ever were able to download the product after the last discussion that we had or not . If not , Can you please try and use the following steps and do let me know the outcome please.

1) Navigate to adobe.com/downloads .

2) Go to Other downloads and select the download for Adobe Application manager for Windows .

3) Once the download gets completed , please launch Adobe application manager and that should update itself to Creative Cloud .

Kindly let us know if this works or not for you.

Hey Heidi, glad you made some progress and thanks for posting that...  Which version of the apps are you running now and is it working for – last year's or this year's?

If anyone needs the direct links for the latest release which came out last week, you can find them here::

Creative Cloud 2014 Direct Links: New Adobe CC 2014 Downloads / Trials

Note that Adobe has made these complete new builds which install separately from the previous (CC 2013) version.

So far, so good w/DW 2014 and PS 2014, and Acrobat. Haven't updated/installed anything more than that yet. One other thing ... I couldn't get Acrobat to install at all before (even from the prodesigntools site). But I was finally able to do that now with this new CC app. Still not sure if I'll use it; I prefer the direct link downloads.

steve69, sorry to hear you are having issues. I hope that by fixing my issue, they didn't create a dozen more. *sigh*

PS -- If you google "adobe problems downloading and installing creative cloud app", this thread from this forum is one of the first search results ... BUT, it says the last post was made May 18, 2014 ... although the last I see before mine is from March. Do they delete posts?

I've been trying for 4 days straight to download the CC desktop app. I have a brand new Dell desktop that I'm trying to get up and running w/CC. I spent 3 hours (maybe more?) on the phone w/adobe today and still nothing. They say it's my ISP. Yea, my ISP is blocking adobe.com ... I doubt it. I successfully installed Adobe Creative Cloud, along with a dozen apps on another computer in my house over a year ago and it's been fine. Haven't updated any apps in a few months, but I also haven't had any connection issues (just haven't necessarily tried in a few months). So last week I got another license (for personal use) ... tried to install on TWO other/separate computers in the house (one Windows 7, one Windows 8) and NOTHING. I'm so upset. I suppose I'll call back tomorrow, but if anyone else has had any luck with any other possible solutions, I'm all ears. Sometimes I really miss a good ole CD install.

Well, in fact you can actually still get a Creative Cloud DVD – yes, even for the CC apps, when needed...

Another alternative, mentioned above, is to try downloading any/all of the CC tools without using the Creative Cloud Desktop App (via the Adobe CC direct links), and see how that works for you.

Hope that helps, one way or the other!

It's a bit scary how much "chatting" is required of the "right agent" to accomplish a task with Adobe.  On the other hand, if they really DO provide DVDs, I hope Microsoft pays attention.

The Windows 8.1 update was 3.2 Gigabytes. Took 5 hours to download, 2 hours to "install", seconds to fail, and 2 hours to "revert".  Did that TWICE.

A quick look at the download site (Download New Adobe CC Trials: Direct Links (no Assistant/Manager) | ProDesignTools)

confirms what I thought: Photoshop + Lightroom + Bridge + Premiere + Adobe Camera Raw is more than 3 GB!
