Cannot move palette or window properly

while dragging a document window, tools palette or any other floating window in ps (cs5.5 mac) the window or palette jumps back to is orgin position, this happens after a short period of time. in less cases i can drop the window or palette and it keeps it new position but most of the time it jumps back during dragging and the dragging action stops. i tried different mices, one screen two screens, it's only in ps, ai or id works fine. software is new installed and up to date. does anyone has any idea?

thanks tom

thanks for your fast help. but sadly it doesn't fix the problem. i figured out something else which makes me a bit scary. if i open a dialog like the preference dialog ps doesn't has the problem, it looks like - or i think it is - that if i open a non modal dialog window which has no close, minimize or maximize button on the left upper side i can move any other window or palette without any problems.

this is a very bad workaround, so for any help i would be very thankful, as i am for the already posted ones.

As mentioned by the previous poster, the most critical factor would probably be turning off OpenGL. You have a misconfiguration in your graphics drivers it would seem that does weird things to PS' hardware acceleration features, which includses some UI stuff.

    HI,

I am not sure which mac version you are working with but these are the following things that you might try and check :

    1. Quit Photoshop

    2. Goto this location : Users/[Username]/Library/Preferences/ and then delete this "Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 Settings" folder

    3. Relaunch Photoshop

    4. Goto photoshop menu and goto preferences and goto performance and then disable open GL option and then click OK.

    5. Close and Relaunch PS and then check.
