I have just left a chat adviser and he has suggested that I use this link

I am to be giving a presentation during the week of mono conversion in Element and CC.

Adobe website informs me that I need for my A7R III (ILCE-7RM3) ARW files Minimum Camera Raw plug-in version required 10.1. can't understand why the ARW files open in CC and not in Elements on the same computer/laptop

No Problem with CC but as I will be using Elements as well during a presentation will the attached link sent to me (https://forums.adobe.com/welcome) to a download affect my CC as I can't allow this to happen.

? should I download 10.1 for my Elements 15 , from where and will it have an effect on CC.

Thank you

It's got nothing to do with having the software installed on the same computer.

It's all about software versions and which are compatible with the version of Camera Raw needed for your camera.

See Camera Raw plug-in and Adobe application compatibility for which versions of Adobe software are compatible with which versions of Camera Raw.

The A7R III was first supported in Camera Raw 10.1 (see Cameras supported by Camera Raw) which is compatible with CC but not with Elements 15.

? should I download 10.1 for my Elements 15 , from where and will it have an effect on CC.

10.1 is not compatible with Elements 15 so that won't help.

You have a couple of options:

  1. Pay to upgrade to Elements 2019, or
  2. Stick with Elements 15. Download the free Adobe DNG converter from the link below and convert all your Raw files to DNG format. Then both Elements 15 and CC can open the DNG files. Digital Negative (DNG), Adobe DNG Converter | Adobe Photoshop CC
CC can of course open the Raw files but Elements 15 will never be able to.

Photoshop Elements is a completely different program, not part of a Cloud subscription

You need to ask Elements questions in that forum
