CC won't allow PS use without CC login

I've had a Creative Cloud PS/Lightroom plan for 2 years now. The CC icon on the Mac Taskbar has always been greyed-out until I recently attempted to download textures and was asked to log-in. I did... and then noticed some stuff immediately downloaded before I got to the textures files.

After that, the CC icon was active on the Taskbar. And an ever-so-slightly revamped PS loaded... so much for "Dreaming Bigger." But after I logged-off CC, and when launching PS, a pop-up window appears stating "Sign In required... terms and conditions for trial software..."  Huh?

I've never used CC to upload files, do anything, other than attempt to download 3 texture files.

OK, I disabled auto log-in features from CC prefs, signed-off, shut my OSX off completely, waited 30 secs, rebooted, launched PS... same problem.

I have the annual plan, paying monthly, in good standing for November.

OSX Get Info...

  Photoshop 2018: 19.1.1

  Creative Cloud: 4.7.0.400

Don't know where to begin. Do I need all the CC gunk active to now use PS?  Thanks.

Sign-in to Cloud services even if one doesn't have internet access to the Cloud (temporarily)? Will do.

Have no idea why the CC taskbar icon was greyed-out forever, now isn't. Oh well, not important. Software functions... all that matters. Thanks for the prompt reply.

You need to be signed-in for using the software, but you only need an internet connection every 90 days. That is like that since the beginning of the subscription model. However, the CC app is not necessary for using your programs. It is only necessary for some "administrative" tasks: font management, asset management, ...
