There use to be a button in the Creative Cloud App for desktop to check if new updates are available. That button seems to have disappeared.

How can I check if new updates are available?

You can use the Help > Check for Updates menu to force-check for updates. But in general, the available updates appear automatically in the Apps tab and its various sections.

notifications are automatic if you have automatic installation of updates disabled.

When I start CC for the first time each day, updates don't usually appear, but if I then click "check for updates," they appear, especially for Photoshop Beta.
