Checkout button not working

I am trying to buy an upgrade to Lightroom 6. I have registered my current version 4 with Adobe and I can add it to the cart, however, when I try to press the checkout button, nothing happens. I have tried both Firefox and Internet Explorer and have disabled all Plugins on both browsers, so there should be no script blocking present. The same error is present on both the German site and on the one for the United States.

I've read about others having the same problem, however, I have been unable to find anyone with a solution.

I have no interest in a CC subscription so I don't consider getting one a solution for my problem.

Make sure you are logged in to the Adobe site, have cookies enabled, clear your cookie cache.  If it continues to fail try using a different browser.

I tried the free version and 2 days before the free trial was finished I tried to remove it but without success. I'm sorry but I see this as a scam, since now Adobe is going to charge me.

make sure you're aware of the cancellation terms by selecting your plan type (at the top of the page here), https://helpx.adobe.com/manage-account/using/creative-cloud-subscription-terms.html

for info on how to cancel your subscription, this page describes the few steps involved, https://helpx.adobe.com/manage-account/using/cancel-subscription.html

if you want to cancel but are unable to follow the steps described in the "how to cancel page", contact adobe support.

there are 2 ways to contact adobe; chat and twitter (now x):

    chat:
use a browser that allows popups and cookies, and click here, https://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html?rghtup=autoOpen
in the chat field (lower right), type AGENT
be patient, it can take quite a while to reach a human.

    twitter/x:
    tweet @AdobeCare

p.s. if you're contacted by anyone (via email or private message), it's much more likely to be a scammer than an adobe representative.
