I want to do a fresh install of CS6 upgrade on a new laptop. The installer asks for CS5.5, but this was upgraded to a CS5 license before on old tower. Help!

Can you explain the upgrade situation again.  You talk about something being upgraded to CS5 and that doesn't make sense since the other versions came after CS5.

If you are installing CS6, CS5 or CS5.5 will both qualify as versions to upgrade from, so you should be able to select one or the other when CS6 asks for a qualifying version.

I have a older Mac tower that has the CS6 upgrade installed on it. The CS6 upgrade is linked to a CS5 (and CS4) licenses that are on this older tower.

I want to install CS6 on to a newer MacBook Pro.

Instead of mirroring and migrating all the applications from the old tower to the MacBook Pro, I'd like to install the CS6 license only.

When I run the upgrade installer, it asks for the previous license, with CS5.5 as the only option, not CS5. The company never purchased CS5.5, we upgraded from the CS5 license.

CS5 does not appear in the list of licenses to upgrade from in the installer's prompt. Make sense?

Good plan. FYI, migrating Adobe apps never works. They have to be re-installed from scratch to run successfully.

What you report is clear enough but the CS6 installer offering only CS5.5 as an upgrade path makes no sense. CS5 and CS5.5 are both qualifying earlier versions.

Have you tried entering the CS5 serial number to see the response from the installer?

Any chance of a screenshot (just in case it offers any clues)?
