College Course 4 Months Long and 529 Plan

Hi, new here.  My grand daughter is taking a college photography course that requires Adobe.  But, the course is a semester and ends in May.  Does Adobe require her to sign up and pay for a year when she only needs it through May?  This may be a problem as she is covered by our 529 Plan that ONLY covers college expenses as REQUIRED by the IRS.  So the remaining months after May CANNOT be paid out of the 529 Plan.  Don't you offer simply a month to month payment (not annual) based on actual use of your software for a college course?

Correct answer

The deal for college students is "Annual Plan paid monthly" ... so are you

saying Adobe does offer monthly plans? It would be nice if Adobe would

offer monthly plans to college students taking a course for 4 months and

just paying for 4 months.

Sorry for the confusion.

1. The student & teacher plan is a annual plan, not for parts of the year. If you cancel earlier, you have to pay the penalty fee.

2. The plan for single month(s) is a normal single app plan, not a education special. It can be cancelled in March or April or May ... , just as you like. In the price list it is called "Monthly plan", see my picture above. You don't have to pay the early cancellation penalty fee.

3. Let's compare the pricing of these two plans: 4 months of  the "Monthly plan" equals 1 year of the "Student & Teacher" plan.

Now you don't know if your grand daughter will love image editing. The Student & Teacher Photography plan gives her 8 months extra time to use the program if she wants, with no extra costs. You only have to remember when the year is up.

There is a month-to-month plan, but the price for 4 months (= regular price, no education price available) is nearly the same as for 1 year student & teacher edition.

The month-to-month plan can be cancelled every month. But if you cancel an annual plan before the subscription ends you have to pay a "penalty" fee, 50% of the remaining installments.

Month-to-month, 4 x $ 29,99 = $ 119,96

1 year education promotion price: $ 119,88 prepaid or 12 x $ 9,99 = $ 119,88 per month.

Thanks for the prompt information.  Sad that Adobe won't allow students taking a semester or quarter course that requires Adobe software.  One would think that if a professor requires it, then Adobe would charge a college rate for the semester months ONLY.  The student has to keep paying even though the student takes only one photography course.

OK, but we know Adobe isn't a charity.

But WHY does it have to be Photoshop? For only 4 months? Two hours a week?

There is a lot of cheaper image editing software he/she could teach the basic concepts of image editing with.

I blame the teacher for his thoughtlessness and lack of flexibility.
