Could I make an external drive with a bootable Lion OS and still run my Adobe CS6 Creative Suite?

I have a Macbook Pro with OS X Lion. I want to upgrade the OS to El Capitan. My problem is my Adobe Creative Suite CS6 is not compatible past Lion, (maybe to Mountain Lion.) Could I make an external drive with a bootable Lion OS and still run my Adobe CS6 Creative Suite?
