Counterfeit disk?

I tried doing an installation of illustrator CS6, after the validation of the serial number, during the installation the process stopped and I received the message 'The product you are trying to install is not an Adobe Genuine Software and appears to be counterfeit'. 

Any thoughts?  Just a bad disk?  This is a copy of illustrator, sold and distributed by an educational consortium.
