Creative Cloud 2017 Extremely Slow

Hello!

I know there are previous discussions on this topic, but no one seems to have a valid resolution. I did the updates for the new CC '17 updates last week and have since then been unable to work in any of the programs. I'm a freelance designer and these updates have made it impossible for me to do any work. I open a photoshop, it takes forever to load and then I'll try to toggle between tools as I go and it lags, I'll try to start a new doc, it lags, etc. This happens at the very least in Photoshop, Indesign, and Illustrator.

My system stats are below:

OS:  macOS Sierra v. 10.12.1

MacBook Air (13-inch, Mid 2013)

Processor: 1.3 GHz Intel Core i5

Memory: 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 5000 1536 MB

I have 46.71 GB available of 120.GB on my mac.

I store almost everything but applications and temporary files on an external 1 TB hard drive.

I really don't want to uninstall the 2017 update, but I'm at the point where that seems like my only option. I'm supposed to go to print on a monthly publication on Friday and I haven't been able to work in the programs to get the work done because of how slow it is.

Honestly, I just ended up doing a back install to the CC 2015.5 version of photoshop, indesign, and illustrator. Those are the programs I use the most often for my work. If you're paying for the full CC, you should be able to install previous versions of a program. I had to completely uninstall every adobe product on my mac though, so it was a little time consuming. Below is a link to the site I used to help me get back to the old programs, as well as some screen shots for what you want to look for on the CC app manager thing. (I found the directions a little wordy and not that clear, tbh.

Directions:

Install a previous version of any Creative Cloud application

Screen shots:

I'm not sure what version will work best for what you're working with. But, you should have access to all of those versions shown in my last screen shot.

I'm going to keep working with these version until the put out the next update and if I face the same issues with whatever new updates they throw out, I'll keeping going back to the version I'm currently using now. If it proves to be a continuous thing, then you can bet I'll be finding different programs to work in.

Anyway, hope this helps!

But its the CC app itself that begins the pain.. can I download these without the darn app being on my computer?

I've now cancelled my subscription and should be getting a refund.... i hope. aha. Had a nightmare with Customer Service

Downloadable installation files available:

Download and installation help for Adobe links

Download and installation help for Prodesigntools links are listed on most linked pages.  They are critical; especially steps 1, 2 and 3.  If you click a link that does not have those steps listed, open a second window using the Lightroom 3 link to see those 'Important Instructions'.

legitimately same.

Just spent the last 2 hours trying to get help on the support chats - one of which told me to start again (as my computer is too slow to even process anything since downloading CC so was using my iMac to talk to them, until they wanted to do screen control......), and then once I got through on my dreadfully slow macbook the other person did screen control for an hour with me - watched me physically download Photoshop CC (for the second time today, as I have deleted the app off my Macbook for 2 weeks or so and realised I was wasting my money so tried again today, to which I quickly uninstalled it), saw that it was utterly unusable - spinning ball everywhere - and then decided to leave me with a beautiful message saying their support has gone 'offline' as I reached 'out-of-hours'.

Even though its 24 hours, 7 days a week.

Cheers Adobe, shoutout to Santhosh for just leaving me.

I give up, no idea whether I should appeal for the money back as this is my first month ever using CC - I don't know what possessed me to not use the trial first and pay for it. I'm a student so 16 quid was still a bit for me.

My main device is the 2011 17-inch Macbook Pro btw.

I've done as your post says for all three programs. While it showed a slight improvement upon loading and getting started with my work, it is still too slow to work easily in.

post on each problematic program's forum and see if there's more that can be done with those computer specs.

or just install the previous versions, if those worked better.
