Creative Cloud Desktop App (Mac) is not loading

I upgraded to Mac OS X El Capitan 10.11.1 a while a go and the CC Desktop App started to turn unresponsive. Now I'm unable to sync my photos between Lightroom on Mac and iPad, as I couldn't sign into my account in Lightroom CC.

This is what the icon looks like in the menubar (grey means I'm not signed in):

And when I clicked onto it, the window looks like this:

I assume this means it's loading, but this process should normally only take a few seconds, but it's taking hours and days on my Mac. I have been using Google's DNS (8.8.8.8) on my network because my location is prone to DNS pollution. I did try reverting to my default DNS but it didn't change the response. Any ideas and instructions would be helpful, thanks!
