creative cloud desktop, not updating

For the past 2 weeks, the creative cloud desktop won’t update. However, whenever photoshop, lightroom updates get one they come through fine. Have reinstall, clean and nothing. any ideas. It keeps throwing this at me. TIA

If your on Windows 10, then this is an issue that hopefully will be fixed.

I uninstalled everything, photoshop & lightroom. Then ran the uninstaller cleaner. Rebooted and reinstalled PS & lightroom. However, Creative clod, “pun intended” won’t update. I’ll just let it complain as PS & LR are up to date and working

Thank you for the update @cyberwasp and for listing the troubleshooting steps you've already tried. I can understand how frustrating it is to continue seeing Error 190 after uninstalling and reinstalling the apps, running the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool, and confirming that both DISM and SFC completed without finding any issues.

Since Error 190 is often related to operating system compatibility requirements, could you let us know which version of Windows you're using? Please include:

  • Windows 10 or Windows 11
  • Your Windows version/build number (you can find this by typing winver in the Windows search box and pressing Enter)

A few additional questions:

  • Are you encountering Error 190 when updating the Creative Cloud Desktop app itself, or when installing Photoshop or Lightroom?
  • If you're using Windows 10, is it fully up to date?
  • Could you share a screenshot of the complete error message if it differs from the one already posted?

Thank you again for outlining everything you've tried so far. The additional Windows version details will help us better understand whether this is a compatibility issue or something specific to the Creative Cloud Desktop app.

I look forward to your update, @cyberwasp.

Error 190 is usually an indication that the system does not meet the requirements of the app. That said, if Lightroom and Photoshop are updating OK, that would seem to be contradictory.

The requirements for the CC desktop app are here:
https://helpx.adobe.com/uk/download-install/apps/system-requirements/creative-cloud-desktop-app-system-requirements.html

You could try running Microsoft’s DISM and SFC commands to enure your system is not corrupt.

I ran all three DISM commands, says not store corrupted files. Also, SFC /scannow now was good too. As long as it keeps Photoshop updated, I’m ok as everything is backed up locally. I’m guessing Adobe is following Mickeysofts trail and ditching loyal users for more control!

If this has persisted for 2 full weeks, I’d uninstall-reinstall the CC desktop app.

According to this -

https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/apps/manage-apps/creative-cloud-desktop-app/uninstall-creative-cloud-desktop-app.html

- that requires first uninstalling the individual apps, which is a bit of a bother, but if you check the box to keep all preferences, they should pick right up when you reinstall them.
