Creative Cloud Desktop showing duplicate applications

Earlier this week I went into the Creative Cloud installer to update my apps. It's listing most of the apps I have installed twice; once with a version number and once without. I have verified that I don't have multiple versions of the apps installed and I have restarted since then. Why is it doing this? Which item of the pair should I click Update on? Can I get rid of the duplicates?

Also, in the case of Photoshop, even the icon is different. (I did update Photoshop, but before I did it it was identical to the others.)

Hi

The current version of InDesign is 15, so it appears that is your unnumbered one. After you update it, open it from the CC app and so you can confirm.

The default with the 2020 versions is to install the new version and leave the previous, unless you click the checkbox to uninstall it. This is a good idea, as the new versions typically need a patch or two before they are ready to be used in production work.

I understand why I might want to leave a previous version, but the issue I'm having is that I only have one version of each currently installed, but two are displaying in the installer.

  1. Try updating (for instance) InDesign so you get the Open button instead of the Update button. When you open it using the Creative Cloud Application, check the version for each button.
    Mac: Application menu > About
    Win: Help > About

  2. When you open both, does one instance of the application open — or two?

  3. Check the applications folder to see if the applications are installed more than once.

These are the first things to try.

Once I installed the newest version of Photoshop and uninstalled the old version I was left with just one Photoshop option in the app.

That's what I was hoping would happen, but unfortunately I still see two.
