I just installed creative cloud on my new laptop. Windows 8,1 All I get is a black screen. The blue circle loads for a second but then it's just black see screen shot

I have CC on another pc on same network with no issues I know it's not a firewall issue.
I have tried to

  • reinstall
  • adobe cleaner tool
  • deleting oobe file/ folder in both the app data folder and the common files folder
  • rename oobe file/ folder

Just got it to work. I went in to device manage and disabled the Intel Graphics. Then Creative cloud showed up as it should. AMD Catalyst software did not like this though it gave me an error.
That's ok I will just disable the Intel card when I need to use CC. That should not be too often.  I do find it odd that I changed all my settings to use maximum performance for Video, and even set it up specifically for Adobe CC to use the max performance card and I still got the black screen.

Thanks for the help, I wish there was a better solution but at least I can get the adobe software installed now.

I had the same problem. HP Zbook 14 with fresh Windows 8.1 Update 1. This laptop has a switchable/hybrid graphics card with Intel HD 4400 and AMD Fire Pro M4100 chipsets. Tried latest drivers from HP as well as from Intel and AMD without sucess. The problem seems to be related to the switching/power management features. As a workaround, setting "Creative Cloud.exe" and "Adobe CEF Helper.exe" to use "Power Saving" graphics settings in the AMD CCC made the application work (no black/black window).

A post in another forum suggested using the modified drivers "Leshcat Catalyst UnifL" from leshcatlabs.net - Keeping it Simple. Ads free. After installing these drivers (Leshcat’s Catalyst 14.12 Omega UnifL) all Adobe applications are working flawlessly!

(Note: Delete any switchable graphics application settings and go with the defaults).

So to summarize this seems like a driver problem rather that an Adobe issue. Before updating I had problems with hardware accelerated gui in Spotify as well (also black screen). This issue was also solved with Leshcat

That seems to have done the trick for now Aldermo, thanks a ton! Better than the staff input at this point. I don't know if I would characterize it as not being an Adobe problem though; I'm a developer and I know it sucks having to work with hardware specs but switchable graphics are pretty common among high end graphics users; just the sort of people who use Adobe Creative Suite. They should be able to get this work within those environments.

Delete OOBE folder

Disable Intel Graphics from "Device Manager"

Launch Creative Cloud

Enable Intel Graphics back

Creative cloud should still be running.

Gtjr there have been reports that systems with discreet graphics cards may be exhibiting this issue.  What graphics card are you using?  If you disable the discreet/low power mode do you experience the same difficulties?  Alternately can you please verify that the graphics card driver installed is the latest version available from the graphics card manufacturer.
