Creative Cloud Update 3.8.0.310 will not update on MacBook Pro

I cannot update the Creative Cloud app 3.8.0.310.  I have tried everything that is suggested in the forums to update the app. I have tried to uninstall and re-install.  The problem seems to be that two instances of the Creative Cloud are running on my computer. I have tried everything to stop both instances of the program from running. I continually get the message that the app is running and to close the running app in order to un-install. I cannot find the running app of my computer. Reading the forums, I have tried all of the tips of trying to stop Creative Cloud from loading at startup or stopping the app while loaded. Can I revert to the older version of Creative Cloud and forego the newer version?  I have unchecked the box that says, " Always Keep Creative Cloud desktop up to date."  If I quit the app, the Creative Cloud icon disappears.  What next?

Correct answer J Dr.

I got it to work.

Maybe it's stupid luck but this is what I did.

The icon in the dock is a shortcut to Applications > Utilities > Adobe Creative Cloud > ACC > Creative Cloud.

I looked at the same item on the mac of a colleague.

I noticed that it said this was a program and on my mac it said it was an app.

I changed the name to "_Creative Cloud" and also copied the program of my colleague.

After I restarted my mac I tried to start the program.

Of course it didn't work.

I deleted the program I copied from the colleague and changed my own program back to "Creative Cloud".

After I restarted my mac again I started the program with the icon on the dock.

It took a while but Creative cloud started up and said there was an update.

I ran the update and behold it worked.

This also updated the "hdpin.db" that's in library > Application Support > Adobe > caps

I looked at this because someone on this forum suggested that changing the name of "hdpin.db" would work.

Which didn't.

Maybe you can try the changing of the name method and hope it works.

Thank you so much for your helpful reply.  After reading your last response,  the solution to my problem clicked in my head.  I followed your suggestion and did the following to correct the problem:

1.     In Finder I clicked on Applications>Utilities

2.     In the Utilities folder I had two files that were labeled "Adobe Creative Cloud" and  "Adobe Creative Cloud 3.7.0272".

3.      I opened the file labeled Adobe Creative Cloud>ACC and renamed the file "Creative Cloud.app"  "Old_Creative Cloud.app"

4.      I shutdown the computer and re-booted the computer.

5.     The Creative Cloud.app did not load when I rebooted so I had no active incidents of the Creative Cloud app in memory

6.      Then, I used the Creative Cloud Installer that I downloaded from the Adobe website.

7.      After I ran the Installer the Creative Cloud desktop app was installed with the latest version.

Thank you so much for your suggestions and help.  I had been working on this problem for two days and many hours of frustration. I hope anyone who has a similar problem will read this post .

Can you provide a screen shot of the message you say you keep getting?

Here is a screenshot of the message I receive when I try to manually install the Creative Cloud app.  Thank you for your reply.

This is exactly the same problem I have.

The icon of Creative Cloud desktop on the top of my screen is gone.

If I try to start the program by clicking the icon in the dock I get the message that the program is no longer in use.

If I try to uninstall I get the message that I can't uninstall because there are Creative cloud applications on my system that need the Creative cloud desktop app to run.

The only thing I can do is click close.

If I restart my computer the icon on the top of my screen is back and I get the message that there's an update for the Creative cloud desktop app.

And we're back in the same loop.
