Hi DanFocusrite,

This error could show up when there is a network connectivity issue on your machine, i would recommend you to try the steps mentioned in the below help document and try the update again:

Troubleshoot Adobe Creative Cloud download, install, and update issues

You may also want to reset the hosts file of your machine. See, Advanced solutions to connection errors with Adobe Creative Cloud and Creative Suite applications

Let us know if this helps.

This will solve the problem, at least in the cases where a hardware firewall is the issue.

I had the same problem as others running under W7. The progress indicator bar on the CC installer would stop midway and bring up the 205 error message. I tried the install on several different machines on my network, ran it as Administrator, ran in it Safe Mode, disabled Windows Firewall all with the same 205 Error.

So that likely left my Sonic Firewall as the most likely culprit and I simply circumvented it. I unplugged my workstation's Ethernet cable from its network switch and plugged it directly into the next available LAN port on my cable modem and then reconfigured the machine's Ethernet adapter settings for TCP/IPv4. I'm using static IP  addresses from my ISP so I had to fill in all the data for IP Address, subnet mask, ISP Router's Gateway and DNS addresses. If your network is automatically assigned an IP address from your ISP you may not have do anything at all in terms of adapter configuration. Your computer will then get its DHCP assigned IP address from your ISP rather than your internal network.

The CC installer should complete the install (assuming it's a hardware firewall problem). It will then display an Adobe log-in screen. Once you've logged in, reverse everything with the computer's cable back to it's network switch and reset the adapter configuration to automatically receive an IP address from your internal network.

I had no issues with then downloading/install of the applications offered by the CC control panel once it was installed. No need to circumvent the hardware firewall.

Definitively network  My sonicwall saw this as a virus and was blocking it accordingly.
