Creative Cloud Will Not Open

The creative cloud desktop application shows a greyed out icon and then closes. All my applications still work but I can not update them. I've tried contacting support twice and each time they just give up and disconnect after trying a few things. The cleaner app does not work, safe mode does not work. There was a temporary fix that involved renaming a file from 0 to 1 but I can't find that thread anymore. Please help me, it's been days of trying to fix this.

if it's grayed out, you usually can't open it.  so how does it close if it's never open, or does it actually open for a while?

To clarify, the window never opens but the grey icon stays until I hover over it.

1. uninstall the cc desktop app, https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-creative-cloud-desktop-app.html

 

2. try to reinstall (before cleaning), by using the alternative download site at page bottom here, https://helpx.adobe.com/in/download-install/kb/creative-cloud-desktop-app-download.html
