CS2 Illustrator upgrade installation

I read the thread about the activation service not available for CS2 (Error: "Activation Server Unavailable" | CS2, Acrobat 7, Audition 3, and I downloaded the new install file (from Download Adobe Acrobat 7 and Adobe Creative Suite 2 products. I am trying to install this on a different computer than I had it on before, that computer died and I was not able to deactivate CS2.

I have the UPGRADE version of Illustrator CS2, which means I have to install AI9 first, then CS2 finds that, and confirms. Not sure if that throws a wrench in this issue.

Anyway, with the new install file from Adobe, I tried to activate it using my AI CS2 serial number, and it did not work. Am I supposed to use the AI9 serial number? If not, how do I activate this downloadable version?

I legally purchased this software, and now I am not able to activate it, which is plain wrong.

You need to use the serial number mentioned along with the download link.

As the activation server is no longer available for CS 2 , your CS 2 serial number cannot undergo validation process to activate apps since there is no Activation

server for that.
