CS3 to CS6 - Customer support wasn't helpful
Good afternoon, I have had CS3 for the longest time, obviously, and it worked great. I recently had to reinstall it, and imagine that, it's so old that the activation servers are deactivated.
I saw a few articles about upgrading a CS3 license to CS5 or 6, so I figured I would contact customer support to try my luck. The person seemed helpful enough, telling me to:
"
Go to this page Download Adobe Creative Suite 6 applications and download from there. Make sure to choose CS6 Design Standard, if you choose any of the other options, you may run into problems with the serial number. The downloads for Full and Upgrade are the same.
Please follow the below link let me know once its done If its works for you or still facing Issue ? Thank you."
And gave me a few links to check out, some one helpful, the rest....Not.
So, I downloaded CS6 Design Standard (though my license was for CS3 Design Premium), willing to take the loss if it meant I could use the products again......and it said my SN was invalid. I mentioned this to the employee, and they came back with:
"I want to inform you that CS/CS2/CS3/CS4/ CS5/ CS6 software is no longer distributed by Adobe. We no longer have the software bits and it’s been decommissioned. It happened because our aging activation servers for Creative Suite products had to be retired. "
and then proceeded to link me to a page where I can buy the cloud service.
I pointed out that the software was able to differentiate between an "invalid" serial number and a revoked one that I found online, so the servers are still taking activation requests.
Their response:
"There is no direct support from Adobe for end of life products like CS5 and CS6 you can get support on below link please follow our teach team is there will help you."
Finally, I asked if there was any way to upgrade my license so I can use CS6.
"I understand your concern but we cant upgrade them because they are perpetual product please follow the below link."
I thought my CS3 license was for a "Perpetual product" as well, yet here I am.
Is there anything that I can do about this? I am not interested in using the cloud software. I want to be able to either use the software that I paid for, or upgrade to a software that I can use. Any help is greatly appreciated.
