I bought a new computer and need to install my copy of CS3 Web Standard. I'm not able to deactivate it on my old computer so can't install it on my new computer. Where can I get help with this? Support chat said I needed to search the forums to see who could help. They said since it's an old product he can't help me.

Great support Adobe! Way to go!

While it doesn't sound like it, if this happens to involve a volume license then chat support is not going to be able to help, though they should be able to direct you better than they did.  For volume license support you need to get in touch with the volume licensing folks.

As I mentioned... you used the word "questions"   If you had more than the one to request resetting your activations, they will turn you away.   But it also now sounds like they have a reason... too bad they cannot simply indicate directly if it is a volume license matter.

I said I need my license deactivated. I'm not sure how else to phrase that? I guess I'll try again for the 3rd time.

They said for volume issues I need to go on the forum.

    Activation and deactivation troubleshooting

If your company purchased the product under a volume licensing agreement, the deactivate option isn’t available. Contact your volume licensing administrator for help.

Yep contacted support again and they said this:

"I have checked and found that this is a CS3 version, and the support for this is only available on Adobe forums, you need to contact the forums team and an expert from support team will help you."

Seems like others have the same issue. I will have to contact volume support. This is crazy. How can one support channel not have the ability to connect me to another support channel? Worst support ever. The chat support just stopped responding to my questions.

If you only had the one installation then you likely still have one activation available without having to worry about deactivating the old one.  Your license allows for having two machines activated at a time.

Chat Support is the only option you have for deactivating the old installation if you are not able to deactivate it yourself.  You just need to be careful to not ask for anything more than resetting your activations or else they will do what they did and send you back to the forums where no one can provide this service.

One thing you probably need to be aware of is that old software and the newer operating systems rend not to get along and there is a good probability you will not get CS3 working on a new system for that reason.

Thanks for the reply Ned. I'm not able to deactivate it on my old computer so techinically it's still active there even though the computer is no longer working. I just need that deactivated somehow. I don't know why it won't let me activate it on my new computer since it can be on 2 computers.

I thought I was pretty clear with support but they just wanted to send me to the forums. Guess I'll try again. Thanks for the help!
