Question

CS4 does not install properly after deinstalling CC

I am trying to go back to install an older Creative Suite 4 Design Premium after having cancelled my Creative Cloud subscription.

The operating system is Windows 8.1, 64-bit CPU

I have removed all the Adobe Creative Cloud applications using Windows Control Panel.

CS4 Design Premium Setup displays the Welcome panel, displays the Installed products and allows selection of the products to install.

If I check any of Acrobat 9 Professional, Dreamweaver, FireWorks, Illustrator and press Install, the Installer displays Preparing to Install

If I press the Install button, the Install button becomes enabled again but nothing happens, nothing installs.

This problem might be caused by trying to install an older version (CS4) over remnants of the more recent CC.

Do I need to run a cleaner application to clean out the old Adobe Creative Cloud applications?

Nigels91664006 I would absolutely agree with your statement, "This problem might be caused by trying to install an older version (CS4) over remnants of the more recent CC."  I would recommend running the remaining Adobe installers for your Adobe Creative software titles.

Once this is done you can then use the CC Cleaner Tool to ensure complete removal.  You can find details on the use of the CC Cleaner Tool at Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html.

If you need to download a fresh copy of the retail installation files they are available at Other downloads.
