CS4 not accepting serial number

CS4 asking for serial number, but it's not recognizing it.  Any suggestions?

    Carrp did you migrate/copy the installation from one computer to another?

    Please check to verify your serial number is registered under your account at http://www.adobe.com/.  This will help verify the validity of the serial number.  You can find more details at Error "Failed to Install" Creative Cloud Desktop application - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/failed-install-creative-cloud-desktop.html.

    No. I reinstalled it on an external drive through my laptop so I could use it while I traveled. I purchased the product new, and have been using it on my desktop.

    Carrp do you receive the message that your serial number is invalid when you install Creative Suite 4 to default installation location?  Were you able to locate your serial number under your account?
