CS4 serial no. not recognised on my new Apple Mac.

I have held Adobe Creative suites for many years, but on a recent computer swap (new Macbook) the new licence doesn't seem to work. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong, but I don't know what. Before anyone asks, these are legitimate bought licences. Originally had separate licences for Adobe, then bought CS2 upgrade and now at CS4.

Anyone have any ideas?

Hi Jeff, I've stumbled at the first obstacle. In the Utilities - there is an alias and I got the following message.  "The alias “Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Premium” can’t be opened because the original item can’t be found"

You're being so helpful that I don't want to take any other action in case I mess things up even further, but what would you suggest I do next? I tried to fix the alias by searching but it only came up with a few "read me" files.

I look forward to your response.

Italoabri try to run any uninstaller which will function.  If it is does not work then move on to the CC Cleaner Tool.  You are welcome to update this discussion if you have any additional questions.

Italoabri did you migrate/transfer/copy your previous installation or files to this new MacBook?  If so what steps have you implemented to resolve the error?  Finally to confirm are you using your registered serial numbers?  You can find details on how to locate your registered serial number at Find your serial number quickly.

Hi Jeff, I used my time capsule to restore everything from my previous macbook to this one, but on starting up any of the applications it asks for the serial number. On entering the number it fails. I have a CS4 box with the serial number on the CD case, but then on the Laptop, in the applications there are 12 folders covering Photoshop, Illustrator Bridge etc etc. But earlier on I went to the Adobe site and tried to enter the serial number I have against my name and it came back saying this serial number was already registered. This is confusing because I am the owner of this product and I have it installed and working on my tower Mac in the office and now want to activate it on my laptop.

Italoabri in the future please only transfer your documents and settings.  Adobe Creative applications are not designed to be copied/transferred from one computer to another.

To attempt to recover please complete all of the steps listed in CC desktop lists applications as "Up to Date" when not installed.  This includes the use of any available uninstallers to remove the installed Adobe Creative software titles prior to the use of the CC Cleaner Tool.

Finally if you need to download a fresh copy of the retail installation files they are available at Download CS4 products.
