CS5 on new laptop

I bought photoshop CS5 in 2011 and installed it on my desktop computer. My computer crashed about a year ago and I reinstalled CS5 on the new drive. Now I want to add CS5 to my laptop and the website says " this serial number is already in use". What do I do now. I only have it on my one desktop computer right now.

LoriKathleen, please use a different computer that does have an optical drive to transfer the files to a USB drive.

Once installed you can then download the available updates at Adobe software and product updates .  Please be aware that some updates are listed under the software title and others under Creative Suite, LoriKathleen.

Apologies if this is not the place to ask this question. I couldn't find where to start a new topic, and this was the closest I could get to what I'd like to ask.

I own treasured editions of Photoshop CS5, with Dreamweaver and Indesign. I love them because I know them like I know my own hands. Also I can NOT afford subscriptions.

Now at last my old trusty computer no longer works, so I've been forced to buy a new up-to-date one. I downloaded my 3 beloved programs and installed them and activated them and thought that all was well. I even managed to figure out how to override the extreme screen resolution of the new machine, to make the 3 programs look normal.

Then I opened a .jpg in Photoshop and my whole year was ruined. A tiny box at the top left hand side showed a small corner of the image. That was all. There's no way to view all of the image, let alone edit it. Any advice would be gratefully appreciated. Ho can I use PS, InD and D on my new computer please?

PS I tried to drag and drop a screenshot but it only created a huge white space. You might have to scroll down to see it.

Please ignore my previous post. As so often happens, straight after I posted the question, the issue got resolved. All is well now. Many thanks to Adobe for this support group.

Again reinstall it and try to access it with your assigned serial number and also make sure that you copy the ENTIRE root and folder structure to a USB drive. If still you can't access it then contact to <Removed by Moderator>.

LoriKathleen, I reviewed the account you used to post to this public discussion forum and it appears you have an educational version of Creative Suite 5 for Windows registered under your account.

What is the exact error message that you are receiving when you attempt to install Photoshop CS5?  I reviewed your activation history but the serial number has never been activated and has activations remaining.

Since you are using an education license for Photoshop CS5 you will need to use the installation files provided with your purchase.  If you purchased from Adobe directly then you will need to download the files from your account using the steps listed in Find downloaded apps and files .  The retail installation files available at Download Adobe Creative Suite 5 product will not accept an education serial number.

Jeff- Thank you for looking up my info. I just found a DVD that was sent to me when I bought the CS5 for a class. Do I use this to install photoshop on my new laptop? If so, how do you do that? The laptop has no place for a DVD? I was hoping to have this ready for a photo class that starts this weekend. Lori

When you have a non-functioning computer and can't deactivate a serial number

BE SURE TO ONLY ASK FOR ACTIVATION SUPPORT TO ADJUST YOUR ACTIVATION COUNT

Ok, how do I do that? How do I re-set my activation count?
