CS5 update fails

I have Master Collection CS5 Teacher and Student.  I have recently re-installed it on a new installation of Windows.When I try and download product updates for it, it consistently fails.  For each application it tells me, "There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later." The message at the bottom says to "Please contact customer support" and the hyperlink for that text brings me to the following page:

Error: "This serial number is not for a qualifying product" | Adobe Creative Suite

I have chatted with support and they directed me to the forum.  My product is apparently registered.  Additionally, I can't sign in from the Product Registration menu item in my applications.

    try downloading using a different browser.

    I'm not using a browser.  I'm using the Adobe Product Updater.
