CS6 Design Standard activation limit reached (2 computers), but activation servers are closed

Hello Adobe Team,

We are a corporate user holding a legal, purchased retail license of Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design Standard.

Recently, when we tried to activate the software on a new company computer, it prompted the error: "The serial number has been used on 2 computers."

Since the original activation servers for CS6 are discontinued or we cannot deactivate the old machines online, we are currently locked out and unable to use our legitimate software.

Could an Adobe staff member or moderator please help us reset/clear the activation count for this serial number from the backend?

Here is our serial number (please let me know a secure way to provide it privately if needed, or please check via moderator support).

Thank you for your assistance.

then it’s impossible for you to recover an activation.  there’s no longer work-around

In addition to all other replies, you can see this thread (as well as many others on the subject):

Indeed, you hold a valid license. But the license is for a 14-year-old piece of software that reached its end-of-life years ago. It’s not supported anymore, which includes the infrastructure associated with the software.

Or is a valid retail license permanently abandoned just because hardware changes?

You know, it’s not “just”. Software doesn’t exist in a vacuum, and “hardware” is a big part of software’s life. With all fairness, I think you had a choice not to replace your old hardware but keep using this antique software on that old hardware.

Don’t get me wrong, I understand your frustration. But certain things just reach their end of life at some point no matter how we dislike it.

the activation and deactivation servers are still functioning.  but you need to use a computer with a current activation and that meets adobe’s standards to recover an activation.

Thank you for your reply. However, the old computers where the software was previously activated have already been formatted or replaced, so it is physically impossible for us to use the 'Deactivate' button on those machines. Since this is a legitimate retail license, is there any official Adobe staff or moderator who can check the backend and help us reset the activation count, or provide a valid solution for perpetual licenses when old hardware is gone?

The ONLY way to recover an activation is to DE-activate on a computer… Adobe no longer adjusts activation counts

I you can’t DE-activate on a computer there is no way for anyone to help

Thank you for the information. However, since the old computers are already replaced and formatted, doing a manual deactivation is impossible. As a legitimate corporate customer, are there any Adobe staff members or moderators here who can escalate this to internal support for backend assistance? Or is a valid retail license permanently abandoned just because hardware changes? Please advise.

    1. No. Nobody can reset activation counts, period.
    2. Not for corporate users or individual users or student & teacher users. It’s the same for ALL legacy license holders.
    3. Only you can deactivate a license from the machine it was installed on.
    4. Failing that, you must find other solutions.

Post back if you would like recommendations on replacement options.
