CS6 Design Standard on iMac, second machine

Question

I have a DVD of CS6 Design Standard, student licensing, which I have had for almost a year. I originally had it on my MacBook Pro, but now I have an iMac and would like to install it there too. I have been unable to find a clear answer as to whether I can license it on two machines with a student license, but from what I understand I supposedly can...? Obviously, my iMac has no optical drive, so, following the instructions I saw on other threads, I tried downloading trials from CC but when I tried to license them, it said that my serial number is not valid for CC. Not sure if this is because I need a different version of CS6 to license, or because I'm not actually allowed to have it on more than one machine... Help?

You are allowed two activated installations. You can download the trial version of the software thru the page linked below and then use your current serial number to activate it.
