CS6 Desing&Web Premium activation shame on you ADOBE

I have acquired a pre owned individual license for this software suite. Adobe support has halped me and previous owner trough license transfer and since 2021 I had this CS6 suite associated with my adobe id.

It worked OK, I have been using it on several computers remembering to deactivate before going into a new one. Unfortunately my main work platform broke beyond rapair earlier this year and I couldn't deactivate. One of "slots" gone forever.

I have set up new computer and installed CS6, it activated and worked. Until I decided I need to upgrade Dreamweaver in order to get recent CSS3 and HTML support.

So I have acquird a paid subscription, had to install CC client app and all of sudden I cant use CS6 anymore - it complains about "activation limit reached"

I'm trying to solve this with support line but it seems that every answer points to "upgrade to paid subscription". I have obtained lifetime license for this software. I use it occasionally to update our website, prepare photos for printing etc. This isn't kind of use that justifies 40+ eur monthly expense.

I have some spare keys provided to me before when I happened to acquire a not fully legit license - someone got an idea it would be cool way to save money by selling company assets - previous version of suite multi-user license. I have recovered my money and got pre-owned individual license that Adobe allowed to transfer from one user to another.

Now what pains me the most is the impression that it's the new Dreaweaver that broke the CS6. I choose to pay 21,66 eur monthly to not be able to photoshop or illstrator anymore?

It's a misconception that a perpetual license gives you access to "forever software." There's no such thing.  Although the license is for the life of your product, the software itself will reach End of Life eventually.

Modern Photoshop & Illustrator CC are vastly superior in every way to legacy Creative Suite 6.  Once you've tried them, you'll probably kick yourself for not upgrading sooner.

It is called theft. When you buy a license for life and it is deactivated, this is a crime.

No other company does this.

And it is not about deactivation. I deactivated and still cant use the software on another PC although I paid for it.

It is a bad mistake to trick customers like that: Nobody who got tricked will ever buy from a fraudulant Company again.

1. You bought pre-owned software. 🙄

2. Re-read the EULA that you agreed to.

there is no more support for cs6.  and no one can reset your activation count like previously.

the only solution is to deactivate it from a computer that has a computer activation.  because that sounds impossible in your situation, it's impossible to regain an activation slot.

This answer I keep reading all the time I try to fix it is irrevelant to my case

The problem with activation limit surfaced after installing CC client app, not switching computers.

Tandpin, thanks for being a long-term user of Adobe's software and services. I don't see an active subscription for Creative Cloud under the account you used to post to this public discussion forum, but I do see the copy of CS6 Design and Web Premium that was registered in 2021.

New subscriptions for Creative Cloud may not include licenses for Creative Suite 6, depending on how the subscription was purchased. Active subscriptions, which previously had access to Creative Suite 6, are not blocked from doing so, unless they change their plan to a single-app plan or end their commitment. This is part of what you are encountering right now, with the new CC subscription invalidating the previous license.

If you want to still use Dreamweaver CS6 in 2025, then I would recommend using it on a separate computer from the one being used for Creative Cloud. This advice would only be for new subscribers since the new Creative Cloud license may not include software versions that old as part of the subscription.

Let Kglad and I know how you want to proceed, and we can provide more guidance. If you want to restore CS6 on this computer, then you would uninstall all the apps, followed by running the CC Cleaner Tool, and then reinstall the CS6 using the steps listed at https://adobe.ly/4b7dtBd to manage the activation for continued use on that computer, or on a different device.

If you want to use CC on the current computer, and Dreamweaver CS6 on a different computer, then the advice will be a bit different, Tandpijn, so let us know which route you want to take, so we can provide further guidance. ^JW
