Question

CS6 install fails on some computers but not others?

I'm installing CS6 on the computers in our lab but I'm running into an issue where the installer fails on some computers, but not others, claiming it is counterfit software.

I've read a few forum topics with similar issues to mine, but the solutino there seems to be a corrupted download. Here, I'm using the same (I assume read-only) DVD on the computers that fail and succeed. This is also a cross platform issue. Computers running OSX 10.6 & 10.7 have this issue as well as Windows 7.

Why would this type of failure happen only some of the time? And how can I fix this so I can get CS6 on all the computers?

The only possible conflit I could think of is that some of the computers had an older version of Photoshop once upon a time. I haven't yet been able to determine if all the computers that are failing had older Adobe software.

And what exactly is failing? What errors does it give? What do the install logs say? Sorry to say so, but you're just mumbling away and not providing any shred of sensible info.

Sorry if that seems rambly, I'll focus on Windows 7 x86_64. When the install failed, there was no apparent error code. The installer only said that the software might be counterfit and the installer was exiting.

The log, at the end says:

Please search the above error/warning string(s) to find when the error occurred.

These errors resulted in installer Exit Code mentioned below.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Exit Code: 37 - Validation failed.

Please see specific errors and warnings for troubleshooting. For example, ERROR: DW049, DW050 ...

END - Installer Session

There are 83 errors, which either say

validation failed

or

has an action "install" but no resultState

I can post the full log if it will be helpful, but it is quite long...

Sam did you try doing a search on the words ERROR and FATAL within your installation log?
