CS6 will not install “The Adobe Support Advisor has been discontinued” error

Dear Forum

I have Adobe CS6 and Lightroom authorised on my 13’ mid 2014 MacBook Pro Retina i7 running OS 10.12 and would like to use the second licence on my previous 15” mid 2010 MacBook Pro i7 running OS 10.10.

The reason why I haven’t updated the 15” beyond Yosemite is the combination of OS 10.10 and Silverfast SF-8.8.0r5 is required to operate my ageing Microtek ScanMaker i900.

I have the original CS6 install DVD, the licence number and have just downloaded the most recent install CS6_LS16.dmg of the disc file from the Adobe site. Neither will install and a short distance into the install process display a dialogue stating “The Adobe Support Advisor has been discontinued”

I know the Adobe software works on the 15” as it was installed previously.

I have explored every avenue including the Adobe Support section I can think of and thought you may have a work around. Any ideas?

Hope to hear from you.

Regards

Chris

    Hi Bani,

I have solved the problem by erasing the hard drive and reinstalling the OS and CS6. As a result I can no longer replicate the dialogue.

    As a bit of background:

I retain my older Mac at OS 10.10 (Yosemite) to service my ageing Microtek scanner as  OS 10.10 and Silverfast SF-8.8.0r5 is required to operate it. Microtek are very slow in updating drivers for older machines.

A short distance into the install of CS6 on this OS10.10 Mac (prior to the full reinstall) a dialogue stating “The Adobe Support Advisor has been discontinued”. As I couldn’t find a direct answer to the problem I decided the best and quickest fix would be to reinstall the entire disk.

    Thanks for getting back.

    Regards

Yup - I have this too!  Trying to install on a new MacBook Pro after the last one drowned in Coffee.  Are there any answers to this????

I am also having this exact issue.  Unfortunately, I am not able to wipe the disk either since this is a machine in a public library and must be available for public use.  I used the LSW to download the installer we used in the past, and got the "Installer failed to initialize" error with the same dead link to the now discontinued Adobe support advisor.  Please help!

I have this same problem; after downloading PS 13.0 (CS6) I attempt to install and get the following pop-up

    "We've encountered the following issues

Installer failed to initialize. This could be due to a missing file. Please download Adobe Support Advisor to detect the Problem."

Then there is a hyperlink to "Get Adobe Support Advisor".  When that is clicked, I get to the following page  Adobe - Adobe Support Advisor which vaguely suggests that I look for other KB articles (not really helpful, folks - please refer your customers to specific fixes to specific issues) at the following link Adobe Support

When I try to follow that link I'm led to a completely generic support page that end-up being a circular chase into the same problem description.   Can you help me install my downloaded Photoshop 13 (CS6)?  I do not have the option of completely erasing my system disk as did the above customer.

Added note:  I used another browser to download another copy of the CS 6 installation file and got exactly the same result.
