Uninstall Lightroom 4.0 from your harddisk. Come to your Desktop. You will see a folder named 'Adobe'; double-click on it. There is a sub-folder named 'Photoshop Lightroom 4.2'; now double-click on this. There are two files (one PDF and one EXE) and yet another sub-folder named 'Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4'. Double-click the sub-folder. There are two setup files: 'setup32' & 'setup64'. Double-click 'setup32' file and wait for it to install completely. The software should be ready for use now: double-click on the Lightroom 4.2 icon on your desktop.

Yeah, that's just a generic Windows crash signature and without any more info, nobody will be able to help. Provide system info and possibly whatever is contained in your install logs plus your system's error logs.
