"Database is corrupt" message when trying to install software

Purchased a new computer and was trying to install my CS4. New computer is Windows 8 operating system. Not sure if this is part of the problem, for the error message when trying to install is: "The installer database is corrupt. Please call Adobe customer service." Please help. I need this software onto my new computer so I can work again. Thanks.
