imac -el capitan

The Cloud desktop app installs but appears in my

applications folder only as an alias that does nothing.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app.

I have no problems with Photoshop.

Dear Brucgovn:

Have you exhausted your possible remedies to my problem?

It persists.

Any suggestions on who to turn to?

Anyone have any ideas?

This issue can be easily fixed , its just an typical user account permissions issue , when you are logged in as Root user , you will be having full permissions to almost all files and folders,  but normal user account doesn't have full permissions to most of System related files n folders , its default setting. That is the reason Root user account option is provided to enable and disable as per user's requirement.  Even on Windows its there , its call Built-in Hidden Administrator.

Sometimes , even though the disk is set to have full permissions, there will be error, in this case , you may also try running Repair disk permissions from Applications>Utilities>Disk Utility.

First Verify disk permissions and then click on Repair disk permissions .

But as I mentioned earlier , if possible check with Apple support once .

The two apps that I subscribe to, Photoshop and Lightroom,

are installed and working.

It's the Desktop app that will not work.

It seems to install normally.

Shows in my Applications folder — but only as an alias.

Does not open.

Does nothing.

Without it I have no access to updates, add-ons, Bridge—anything—everything.

Did you tried restarting computer once ?

Does the cloud icon is appearing on Menu bar or is it getting disappeared within seconds when you try to launch by double clicking on Adobe Creative Cloud alias under Applications folder?
