DNG converter update problems

Question

Hi,elements 5- windows xp _ canon eos 60 dI have been able to convert my raw files with adobe dng converter but now am having trouble updating from the 6.5 version to the 7.1 . I tried deleting the 6.5 and installing the 7.1 (not as an update) but that freaked me out because I think it messed up my prior converted files. I restored my computer to an earlier date. I have spent a bunch of time on this and am very frustrated.  Can anyone help me? Tammy

And exactly what is not working? Your description is far too vague to maike any sense of it. And just updating ACR/ DNG doesn't do anything to your files, it may just interpret certain develop things differently, if you choose to use the 2012 RAW engine...
