Question

Do I have to sign into Creative Cloud to use my apps?

Up until today's Creative Cloud upgrade, I have never had to sign into my account to use my apps (InDesign, etc.) It was so convenient to just click on a document to open InDesign and begin work. Now it seems I can't use unless I am signed into my desktop Creative Cloud. I received no notification that this was going to happen. When I did try to sign in, my password wasn't being recognized and I had to create a new one. This is a frustration. Do I now have to have my desktop app constantly running in order to use any of my Creative Cloud apps?

I don't have to sign-in except once per month to verify my subscription.   See this help article.

Yes, you always need to sign in - that's how it knows you are subscribed. But it should REMEMBER. I'm guessing the problem for you is not that you have to sign in, but that you have to sign in again and again - is that right? It's normal for the desktop app to run all the time, even if you don't see it, it has important jobs to do with keeping the license going. So don't close it (but you can minimize it).
