I have installed Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 for Windows however should have installed it for Windows 7 64-bit. Do I need to deactivate my product code before reinstalling on the same computer?

I'm wondering if you have a Win 7 64-bit PC, and, like, me, you somehow got the impression you needed to install the "64-bit version" of PSE?

If so, please be aware that there is no 64-bit version of PSE; it only comes in a 32-bit version.  It's Premier that comes in both versions, not PSE.  If you bought the PSE-only box, you have the option of installing a trial version of Premier; its only then that you would get involved with installing a 64-bit program (its on disc #2).

If you just want to install PSE, it should install correctly from disc #1, in the Program Files (x86) - i.e., 32-bit, folder.

If I've mis-guessed why you're trying to re-install, please ignore the above.

And Jeri H, if you think the above is wrong, please let me know.

DaveinNC you are correct.  For more detailed instructions regarding the installation I would recommend reviewing Install | Premiere Elements | Photoshop Elements | Windows | Mac OS.

Yes--deactivate the software, then uninstall it, and then reinstall the 64-bit version.
