Do I still need to install a Java client for Illustrator for OS X?

Does Illustrator CC still require a Java client to be installed? Does anything from Adobe still need a Java client installed? I'm about to do a major system re-install and I'd like to keep things to a minimum. Any help/info would be greatly appreciated.
