If I activate/register a serial number on/to my adobe ID, is it possible to then download the associated product(s) somewhere? Instead of still having to install them from DVD?
If so; where?
If not; what is the point of registering them on my Adobe ID?

You can use any trial version of Adobe software and activate it with your serial number. Downloads can be obtained using this method for legacy products.:

Otherwise there is no magic beyond that in the registration. It's merely a means of keeping your serial safe for later use if you misplace or lose your own documents.
