To ALL who have proposed solutions here, thank you for your time and excellent methods for solving a BUG!

However, sorry to be so abrupt, but when I purchase a program, such as Abode CC and all it's components, then I, as a user/consumer expect to have my subscription, software, any and all updates to RUN straight "out of the box."
This is a standard expectation, and one that is supposed to be valued amongst software and QA engineers.

To have to "tinker", perhaps in areas in which I may not have any expertise, such as rename this, download and run this, uninstall this and try this, and risk making changes that could be disasterous to my computer ... is UNACCEPTABLE to me as an end user!

It is up to Adobe, and it's very capable engineers, to have DE-BUGged the process, having put it through the tried and true software development/QA cycle, including full testing on at least the most used platforms, such as Windows 7/8, etc.

This is a FAILING grade, and a disgrace for such a reputable organization such as Adobe, at least as far as it has been up until now.

NO product is worth anything to an end user, if it means it will not "work out of the box" or at least have a simple "fix" if problems are encountered; a "fix" that may merely be a downloaded patch, rather than a process which may compromise my computer environment.

Again, thank you ALL for your very kind, valuable, and spot-on efforts regarding this recurring BUG, but it is up to Adobe, directly to post a simple "fix", that the majority of end users may use, rather than complex (to most of us) list of tasks to do, which if "messed up" may compromise our entire computer.

I have the same issue. Creative Cloud apps will not load unless they are updated. Sadly updates stall at 42%. Not impressed. Adobe please fix. i have wasted over 6 hours so far and cannot load my subscription.

I have downloaded Creative Cloud and  installed Photoshop, etc but the programs will not activate.  I ran them  on a trail but now that the trial period is over they are deactivated. I  called support and spent hours on the phone but they have not been able  to resolve the issue even after exculating to a senior team.

I  need to active the programs because I have a catalog that I need to  complete this weekend.  (I called support again but they are closed.)

Please help

John
