Downloading Premiere Pro on older mac

Hi there, I have a MacBook Pro from 2014 with a 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5 processing system. When I tried to download premiere pro to my laptop I am given the notice that my computer does not meet the program requirements. How can I get premiere pro short of buying a new computer? Is it a better option to attempt to update my computer (there are no available software updates, but perhaps I could have some work done on it to improve the hardware?) or is there a way I can download an earlier version of premiere pro that will be compatible with my later version mac?

Thank you for help/direction
